ROBERTS' TRAIL LAUNCH

As part of the Burton Bradstock millennium activities, the Roberts' Trail was officially launched on 17th April 2000. This project establishes a guided walk through the village pointing out sites of general and historic interest and particularly those associated with Richard Roberts, the 18th century entrepreneur. He did much to put the village on the map with his flax and hemp product business. The unveiling of the wall plaque, which shows the key features of the trail with map and photographs, was carried out by Geoffrey Fowler. Geoffrey was primarily responsible for this project and for the historical research needed but was very much helped by Mrs Elizabeth Gale, the Dorset County Council Rights of Way and Graphics Departments and Mr Justin Mallinson; all of whom were in attendance to witness the launch along with other interested spectators.

The guide is available from the village Post Office.
