About our Library

Our community library is run and managed by Friends of Burton Bradstock Library volunteers.  The books, computers and library systems are all supplied and supported by Dorset County Libraries.

Non Members of the Library

Everyone is welcome to use the Public Computers in the library to access the internet, use Microsoft office applications or print and scan documents and pictures. 
If you are not a member of the library please bring some identification with you.

Members of the Library

Membership of the library allows you to borrow and order books, DVDs,& audio books, and use online resources.
Membership of the library is free
Your Library Card is valid in any Dorset County Library to:

  • Borrow books for up to 3 weeks
  • Renew the loan period up to 3 times.
  • Borrow up to 12 items.
  • Use Dorset Library Catalogue to order items free of charge for local collection.
  • email alerts notify you to return/renew or collect ordered items.
  • Return loans at any Dorset Library
  • Download eBooks
  • Read newspapers and magazines on-line.
  • Use on-line reference including; Ancestry, Go Citizen, Theory Test Pro, Encyclopaedia Britannica, Grove Art and Grove Music

 

The Friends have introduced:

  • Free WiFi using your own device.
  • A Jigsaw Lending Catalogue.
  • Copying and Laminating services.
  • DVDs through generous donations
  • Magazines and local newspapers to read in the library.
  • Local Maps and information
  • Notelets produced from the Millennium Tapestry
  • Children’s Story Times

Who Can Join

People who live, work, or study within the local authority of Dorset County Council may be full members of the library.  You can join at any age, but if you are under sixteen you will need an adult to sign for you.  Anyone else may join as a temporary member.

How to Join

You can either bring along identification showing your current name and address and fill out a form in the Library or you can join online.
Valid forms of identification are:

  • Bank or credit card statement
  • Building society, bank or other savings account book
  • Council tax book
  • Driving licence
  • Electricity, gas or telephone bill
  • State benefit book
  • Vehicle registration document
