At last we have decided on our show for next February and found a director! We have decided to put on another panto – “Goody Two Shoes” – to be directed by Mike Read. Mike has, of course, directed many of the Players’ pantomimes over the years, so we know it will be in safe hands.
The show will take place on Monday – Saturday 22nd to 27th February 2010, with a matinee also on Saturday 27th February. Box Office will be open at Burton Bradstock Post Office on 23rd January or by emailing: burtonbradstockplayers@yahoo.co.uk. Ticket prices are: Adults £6, children (under 16) £4.
Just to recap on this year’s events, we all enjoyed a wonderful Nostalgia Evening in March with past and present members. We hope to repeat it sometime. Also, we held another series of play-readings which were great fun.
I am very pleased to announce that I will be directing the play “Far from the Madding Crowd”, an adaptation by Matthew White, next summer, to be performed on 1st – 4th September 2010. Thomas Hardy has always been one of my favourite authors so I am excited to be directing this play, particularly as we live in ‘Hardy country’. I hope I will do justice to this very atmospheric adaptation. Please come to the Village Hall for the reading at 7.45 pm on Thursday 18th March and to the auditions at 7.45 pm on Thursday 25th March if you are interested in this play. (Please note: these dates replace the April dates mentioned previously.)
We always need new members of any age and if you are interested in joining Burton Bradstock Players, please telephone me.
We hope you enjoy looking at some of our photos from past productions (see below)
