Art Exhibition and Sale 13th-21st
Music Festival 14th-19th

Inaugurated in 1981, this is the 35th year for the Burton Bradstock Festival of Music and Art. The Festival takes place in mid-August, presenting an astonishing range of high quality events in just eight days, including orchestral concerts, evening and lunchtime recitals, intimate late evening performances and an Art Exhibition and Sale. Most of the concerts take place in Burton Bradstock’s exquisite 16th century church and the Art Exhibition and Sale is in the Village Hall.

Music Festival

The Festival’s Musical Director is David Juritz, one of the world’s most celebrated violinists. David Juritz studied at the Royal College of Music where he won the college’s highest award, the Tagore medal. He was leader of the London Mozart players for 20 years and has appeared as a soloist in North and South America, the Far East, Europe, South Africa and Australia. He now leads his own group - The London Tango Quintet. His programming for the Festival combines inspired collaborations with an eclectic range of music to ensure there is truly something to surprise and delight everyone.

The 2016 Programme details, when available, will be summarised here and included in the Newsletter sent out to Friends of the Festival at the beginning of July. Why not become a Friend? See the Festival Web Site for detail.

Art Exhibition and Sale

Come and enjoy a colourful, eclectic exhibition of paintings, ceramics, crafts and cards by local West Dorset artists and crafts people in a welcoming environment in the Village Hall, Church Street, Burton Bradstock.

Most of the artists will be stewarding on different days throughout the Festival so you will have an opportunity to meet them.

This year’s Exhibition will again run for nine days from Saturday 13 to Sunday 21 August.  Admission is free and open from10.00 am until 7.00 pm. (on Sunday 21 August, closing time will be 12.30 pm).   The exhibition is also open during the music concert intervals.

Sold items will be replaced by new work every day so it is worth popping in frequently to view the art, and enjoy the atmosphere.  Hopefully there will be something which you would like to buy.  The sale of artwork raises money for the Festival.
