27 March 2002 - Sluice Gates

| |
The Environment Agency are just installing the
second new sluice gate on the river . These gates control water flow to
the old mill along the leat and are used now as part of the villages flood
defences. The new gates will be operated automatically from the new (very
large and ugly) control cabin and replace the existing arrangements which
involve sending one man from Blandford and a second from Dorchester to manually
operate the gates. |
