27 March 2002 - Sluice Gates

The new sluice gates being installed

  The Environment Agency are just installing the second new sluice gate on the river . These gates control water flow to the old mill along the leat and are used now as part of the villages flood defences. The new gates will be operated automatically from the new (very large and ugly) control cabin and replace the existing arrangements which involve sending one man from Blandford and a second from Dorchester to manually operate the gates.
