BURTON BRADSTOCK PLAYERS

Our musical production in February 2008 was “All for One”, an original play with music, songs, dance, and of course swordplay, by Florence Gabrielli (which turned out to be a pseudonym for our directors, Barbara Powell and Shirley Ewart!), based on Dumas’ “The Three Musketeers”.   What a great job they did in researching and writing this show for us!

Performed ‘in the round’ the show drew large audiences who appeared to thoroughly enjoy song and dance, fun and drama.   The swordplay, after special training from Shirley Parker, was magnificent.

Beautiful 1890s costumes and a lovely set ensured that our play “Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime” in September was a joy to behold.   The acting was good too!   Everyone enjoyed themselves, and audiences did too.

Auditions for next year’s show have already taken place and a good team is in place for this, for both on and off stage.   The Players are returning to their roots and will produce a pantomime again “The Pied Piper”, directed by Vicky Thomas.  The dates will be:  matinee 2.00 pm 21st February, then 23 – 28 February 2009 at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall.   Box Office details to follow shortly.

In the meantime, a Make-up Workshop is to be held in the Hall on Saturday 1st November 2008 with a professional tutor, Sandra Huxtable.

We always need new members of any age and if you are interested in joining Burton Bradstock Players, please telephone me.
